Modeling of soot particle collision and growth paths in gas-solid two-phase flow

Particle collision is an important process in soot particle growth. In this research, based on gas-solid two-phase flow, trajectory was traced by the Lagrange approach with periodic boundaries. Trajectory intersection, probability, and critical velocity were considered, growth path of each traced. The frequency, fc, agglomeration fa, friction ffc, calculated, main influence factors analyzed. results showed that fa/fc increased increase volume fraction gas phase velocity, v, but initial diameter, dpi, had great fa/fc. obviously decreased dpi v. statistical analysis Stokes number number, especially when extremely small, rapidly. Using particle, could be classified three types: firstly, particles did not agglomerate any during entire calculation process, secondly, continually agglomerated small to generate larger ones, finally, at some moment.
